BREACH: Fort Hays State University

A warning tonight for some Fort Hays State Graduates, after the college learned some personal information was compromised.

Fort Hays State University said it was security breach online that led personal information and social security numbers of 138 former students to be available on the internet.

The university says it was an unfortunate accident and all of the information is now removed.

The university hasn’t kept students social security numbers for over five years, so none of the current students were involved in the security breach

A week ago all the former students were sent letters explaining what happened. They were also given information about agencies to monitor their credit.

The university has now uploaded new software to their system to make sure an accidental breach doesn’t happen again.

School officials don’t believe that any of the breached information has been misused.
