We reported the breach at MBIA earlier this week and we have been watching the stock as it has been fairly active over the past few days. Krebs originally posted about the breach and then several other breach researchers have also chimed in. We could not confirm the information so we waited but we knew something was up because the stock started fluctuating pretty quickly after Krebs post.
This should tell you that investors are paying attention to breach releases and it should also let you know that other indicators can sometimes provide insight into suspected breaches. Information is coming out now that it was an asset management firm that may have been breached which led to the MBIA incident.
As always we are monitoring the situation.
